Y2K ✨ minus the 2000s fashion standards and ethics. Back then fashion was all glitter, but it came at a cost: cropped fur-trimmed jackets, UGG boots lined with sheepskin, Juicy Couture velour tracksuits made from petrochemicals, leather bags, and silk dresses - all made by exploiting animals and the planet 🐑

And while the silhouettes have evolved, the exploitation hasn’t. Fashion still fuels billions of animal deaths each year, from cows turned into leather to sheep bred for wool in brutal conditions. Toxic dyes still poison rivers, factory workers still face unsafe conditions for unfair wages, and we’re still shedding microplastics into oceans every time we wash a polyester blend 🏭

But there is a shift. Top fashion houses like Gucci, Prada, Chanel, and Burberry have banned fur. Brands like Stella McCartney, Ganni, and Infantium Victoria are ditching animal leather and silk altogether. There’s fashion made from mushrooms, mango & other fruit waste, cacti, peace silk - even plant-based dyes that don’t harm ecosystems 🌱

Conscious fashion isn’t boring or sparse anymore. You just need to consume a little more mindfully instead of hiding behind excuses or trends - coz cruelty doesn’t look cute in any era 🤍

Men are often advised to avoid soy products due to claims that they can lead to increased chest size and other “feminine” features as a result of hormonal disruption. However, no soy-based products are marketed to women with promises of enhancing chest size or balancing hormones. This discrepancy highlights a common misunderstanding about soy’s effects on the body.

Soy is a nutrient-rich food, providing B-vitamins, fiber, potassium, magnesium, and high-quality protein containing all nine essential amino acids. The apprehension surrounding soy largely stems from misconceptions about its estrogen content. Soy contains phytoestrogens—plant compounds that can mimic estrogen but are significantly weaker than the estrogen produced by the human body. These phytoestrogens do not exert the same effects as the stronger estrogens found in dairy products.

It’s important to note that many foods contain some level of estrogen, which is generally not potent enough to disrupt hormonal balance and can be beneficial to our health. Unless an individual is experiencing specific hormonal issues, such as being premenopausal or having breast cancer, consuming soy is typically not a cause for concern for either men or women.

In fact, a comprehensive meta-analysis published in Fertility and Sterility concluded that neither soy nor isoflavone intake affects male reproductive hormones, including testosterone and estrogen levels. Furthermore, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health states that “Soy is a nutrient-dense source of protein that can safely be consumed several times a week, and probably more often, and is likely to provide health benefits.”

Incorporating soy into your diet can be both nutritious and safe, dispelling common myths and embracing its health benefits.
